I recently watched The September Issue, which is a documentary on the making of the September issue of vogue. It is quite fabulous and if you like fashion, I don’t know if you could dislike this film. Beautiful photography, and gorgeous clothing. One thing that I loved as much as the film is the music. Listen in darlings.

It seems may last day as a sophomore has finally arrived. I had an amazing year, and would like to thank all my friends who were always there for laughter and love! Thanks for being your wonderful self.
Abby Bowling, Anna Levy, Audrey Benedetto, James Kiesel, Adrienne Chen, Bizz Burns, Elise Zion, Natalie Petrillo-Alvarez, Alena Chubet, Rob Zilinyi, Sarah Sproviero, Sarah Elizabeth Roscher, the whole Gospel Choir, Alex Grossman, Callison Stratton, Ariel Rebecca Levine, Rowan Post (and Pancakes), Sara Kassel, Maya Bunny, Jocelyn Stowell, you are the kibbles to my sparky (see video below).
Another year has passed and I can already feel my college years slipping away! And yet, I will be back at Skidmore in two and a half weeks to continue with summer classes for the Studio Art Major.
Thanks again to all my friends for making it such a wonderful year!
I recently watched “Girl, Interrupted,” a film examining the lives of young women in a mental institution, whether they need to be there or not. The imagery from this film was startlingly familiar when I thought of fashion, models, and the tough, damaged girl look that so dominates the industry.
More than an image, the dark and lonely eyes of fashion are also seen in other venues as well. Wall-E, our favorite character from outer space, plays on all our sympathetic values with those big eyes.
And of course, the mysterious, dangerous woman is not a new fascination of the public. It is an image that artists have focused on for hundred of years. I feel that the mystery and risk of such pieces are in the eyes and the clothing. In “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” her face is haunting beautiful. What makes the statement though, is that a woman of her social class would never posses such an earring. Her possessions show that she has broken rules, and that she has seen the damaged side of of life. The juxtaposition between beauty, material fragility, and an overall feeling of risk in the eyes of the model is seen perfectly in fashion, and “Girl, Interrupted.” Why is this type of idea so timeless? Why do those images linger in our minds?
Photos are all found from various places, feel free to send me your link if it is from your blog (no plagiarism intended).
Some cool music/project videos
Take a few minutes and enjoy some great videos. A cool music video, a street art project, and a great video with Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt!
Record stores selling vintage CDs and Vinyl are crucial to my musical life. Not only do they keep the music industry alive, but they also provide a source for discovering new artists. Grabbing a bunch of CDs for 25 cents can be tricky, but, every once in a while, you may find a jem.
This particular record store was right across from the Arden Theater Company where I saw a wonderful rendition of Romeo & Juliet.
Although my favorite version still remains the 1996 film, directed by Baz Luhrman, better known as “the one with Leonardo DiCaprio.”
One of my favorite scenes is the following video. What is your favorite part of Romeo & Juliet?
I recently watched Finding Neverland and fell in love with just about everything. The plot itself is well crafted, and the actors are chosen perfectly to tell the story. It was wonderful to have a window into the life of Mr. Barry (writer of Peter Pan, the basis of the film) and how everyday scenes in his life are transformed into a fairy tale. The music, composed by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, is also lovely and really unifies the film with a sentimental vibe.
The juxtaposition between the upper class firm-lipped characters and the imagination of those young at heart reminded me of how sometimes we all take life far too seriously! This film beautifully reveals to the audience the thin line between grown ups and children, any why it is important to not stay on one side or the other.

Oh, Halloween. A time for people to dress up in revealing, witty, or fantastic costumes that they have clearly put an extensive amount of time into! Halloween and Christmas are my favorite holidays, but they differ greatly in why I adore them. Halloween is clearly, though, a happier occasion. It’s not only a lack of family gatherings that makes Halloween a top holiday though.

1. You go to houses, knock on the door, and people GIVE YOU FREE CANDY.
2. Then you get to trade candy, and have enough to last you until easter.
3. Economic Tip: bring Halloween candy to the movies, you will save your self at least $3.75 and will have a more diverse array of candies with you.
4. For a night everything is a little bit more magic.

5. It’s all about FUN ! Especially at college, it’s a PARTY that everyone is invited to. A time to make friends, a time for shy Freshman to feel included and be welcomed by Seniors. It’s a great bonding time all over.
6. THERE WILL BE DANCING.
7. All the creativity seeps into the rest of your life.

Clearly I am Max from “Where the Wild Things Are,” if you didn’t catch on quite yet. I hope your Halloween is a WILD RUMPUS all on its own! I would love to hear how YOUR Halloween went or why you think Halloween is the best Holiday.

And introducing one of my best friends! My dearest Anna Levy, whom I spend lots of time wandering around with. We are generally a very silly pair, and we definitely have our moments! Life is too short to be serious all the time, and seeing as I can’t remember much of childhood I guess I’ll be fulfilling it now.
These are two of my favorite dancing around songs. I particularly adore the falsetto in “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” it is pure silliness. Check out the music video as well, it is as ridiculous as perhaps anna and I.
Lovefool: The Cardigans
I Believe In A Thing Called Love: The Darkness
Yes, recently I have fallen into the trap of True Blood. The show is full of titillating scenes and excitement, and there is no looking back.

There has been a new development between two of the very sexy male leads over Miss Sookie Stackhouse which I am loving. Bill vs. Eric mmm should be a delicious rivalry.

Theme song from “True Blood”:
Bad Things: Jace Everett
A Remix I found of the theme song
Bad Things (Pirate Stereo Remix)
I love the seduction that is so present in this song by Portishead. This song could get you lucky.
Glory Box: Portishead
This is another seductive song that I am fond of which defintily fits the criteria of “True Blood.”
Sexy Boy: Air
Have you ever noticed that when Bill says “sookie” he pronounces it so quickly and angrily that t sounds more like “sucky”? I am really excited to get a goldfish for my dorm room next year, and have my fish named Sookie (although pronounce it in that mean-fast way Bill does). I have also come across a shirt that says “Sookie is Mine” recently, which I find hilarious and wonderful.
